FUE Unshaven

10 Reasons to Choose the Unshaven (Non-Shaven) FUE Hair Transplant

1. [em]Unshaven (Non-Shaven)[/em] Head

For many hair transplant patients out there, the primary reason for choosing the strip method over Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is that they do not have to shave their donor region. Now, with the non-shaven FUE method, patients are given the opportunity to have the best of both worlds. Patients can enjoy all the benefits of FUE with a full head of hair.

2. No Evidence of Having Undergone Hair Transplant Surgery

Because patients are not required to shave their scalps prior to this procedure, they can return to work or their regular routine, without anyone ever knowing they underwent surgery. This can be especially important for anyone who would like to maintain complete discretion regarding the surgery.

3. Virtually Painless

Because the follicles are individually selected, the procedure is much less painful than the strip method. Very sharp circular trephine punches are used for graft removal in FUE, while strip surgery requires the removal of a large strip of hair from the back of the scalp.

4. Speedy Recovery

No sutures may lead to a less painful hair transplant; additionally, it yields a faster recovery.

5. No Scarring

No sutures essentially means no scars. The non-shaven FUE method allows the doctor to pick and choose donor hairs from anywhere on the scalp or body, for that matter, leaving no visible scars behind. With the strip method, on the other hand, patients are often left with a visible linear scar. The size and color of the scar can also be quite unpredictable.

6. Minimally Invasive

The tools used in the non-shaven FUE procedure allow for depth control by the physician, which permits this method to be less intrusive.

7. Lower Transection Rate

Non-Shaven FUE has a very low transection rate. Transection occurs when hair bulbs are cut off or removed during the transection process. When FUE is performed by a skilled hair transplant surgeon, transection can be as low as 3%. This is vital to the success of the transplanted hairs.

8. Unlimited Hair Styling Options

Since FUE doesn’t leave any scars or signs of hair transplant surgery behind, patients have complete control over their hairstyle choices. If a patient wishes to wear his hair short, he can do that without worry of anyone seeing a hair transplant scar. Strip scars can be large and noticeable; making shorter hair styles an almost impossible option.

9. Can be Used in Combination with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and ACell

Products such as these are often used in conjunction with non-shaven FUE to augment the patient results. Together, these products work to speed the healing process, stimulate stem cells, promote hair growth of recent grafts, and even improve density in areas where hair may be thinning.

10. Allows an Individualized Approach

Over 30 instruments are used in non-shaven FUE, allowing the surgeon to tailor the surgery to meet each patient’s specific hair transplant needs. The versatility of the instruments used in the procedure allow for excellent patient results from one patient to the next.

Ronen Eliyahu

I have suffered from hair loss since my early 20''s, so after researching hair restoration on the internet, I found John P. Cole, MD to be one of the best doctors to pioneer FUE surgical techniques. I then decided to have a hair transplant performed by Dr. Cole in 2004 and he did 3 small sessions of 2,400 FUE grafts total. Dr. Cole did a great job and I ended up with fantastic results. My life has changed forever and, as a result, I founded and developed this blog for the Cole Hair Transplant Group and have been hosting and managing it ever since.
